LearnWorlds, an online course platform, announced a wave of new AI features and enhancements on October 20–21, 2026.

This update is more than a single added feature. It connects the whole course lifecycle with AI: planning, production, learner support during the course, and assessment. Based on the official release information and help articles, this article summarizes what changed and which plans support each feature.

The highlight is the Learner AI Agent. The scope of AI has expanded from helping course creators to helping learners, which is the biggest change in this update.

Learner AI Agent | An AI That Supports Learners During the Course

What It Does

The Learner AI Agent is an AI agent that learners can ask questions inside the course player. It answers questions about the content and helps with study questions.

Creators can configure the agent’s knowledge, instructions, and teaching approach. You can create multiple agents for different purposes, such as:

  • Study Guide: reviewing materials, summaries, and exam preparation
  • Learning Coach: guiding learners to understand difficult concepts by prompting them to think
  • Course Assistant: answering questions about course content and pointing to related materials
  • Training Assistant: answering questions in employee training and handing off to an instructor when needed

Supported Plans

According to the changelog, the Learner AI Agent is available on Learning Center and High Volume & Corporate. Starter and Pro Trainer are not supported. On the Learning Center plan, you must also request activation through your Customer Success Manager (CSM).

Available Settings

According to the help article, the agent settings screen offers many options.

Pros 5
  • You can set the name, avatar, color, and status (draft or public), and check the agent's behavior in a preview before publishing

  • You can choose where the button appears (floating at the bottom right, in the navigation bar, or on the side) and how the chat opens (floating or sidebar)

  • In "Directions," you can write instructions for how the agent should behave and which topics it should avoid

  • You can limit availability to all courses, or to specific courses and learning programs

  • For users who have not enrolled yet, the agent can respond using only the content of free sections

Cons 2
  • Not available on Starter or Pro Trainer, and Learning Center requires an activation request

  • Voice input (dictation) may consume additional credits

Here are the main settings.

Knowledge handling (Knowledge)

Choose from three levels how closely the agent sticks to your materials.

  • Strict: Follows the material exactly and adds no unsupported information
  • Balanced: Uses the material as the core, and supplements explanations with general knowledge
  • Open: Uses the material as a foundation and expands on it more freely

Behavior when it can’t answer

Choose from “end the conversation,” “hand off to a person,” or “point the learner elsewhere.” To use “hand off to a person,” you need to configure Human handoff, described below.

Teaching approach (Teaching defaults)

Choose from four ways of engaging with learners.

  • Adaptive: Changes its approach based on what the learner types
  • Guide first: Asks the learner for their thinking first, then answers
  • Balanced: Gives a short answer, then asks a question to check understanding
  • Answer first: Gives a direct answer with a real-world example

You can match the setting to the course. For a course that emphasizes critical thinking, Guide first works well. For a course where many learners want an explanation right away, Answer first is a better fit.

Behavior during exams (Assessment and evidence)

You can control how involved the AI is while learners take an exam.

  • Off: Not available while taking an exam
  • Helps learner think: Rephrases questions and checks understanding, but does not reveal whether an answer is correct
  • Fully available: Learners can ask anything, including questions about their answers

The documentation also states that the agent never presents its own judgment as an official grade.

Learner memory (Memory)

When you turn on “Remember learners,” the agent builds a learner profile from past conversations and applies it in later interactions. When it is turned off, no profile is used.

Handoff to a person (Human handoff)

You can set the conditions for handing a conversation to staff, and who receives it. The available conditions are:

  • When the agent can’t answer
  • When the learner asks to talk to a person
  • When the learner seems stuck or frustrated
  • When the question is about billing or account access
  • Custom conditions

Handoffs arrive in the inbox of the admin or instructor you select, and the instructor of the learner’s course takes priority.

Proactive messages (Triggers)

You can set the moments when the agent starts a conversation on its own: the first visit to a course, course completion, and certificate issuance.

Audience targeting (Audience)

You can limit which learners can use the agent by conditions such as user profile. This works together with the course scope: a learner can use the agent only if they meet the audience conditions and also have access to that course.

Management and Monitoring

From “Agents” in the menu, you can see a list of the agents you have created and their status. The dashboard shows these metrics:

  • Conversations (number of conversations)
  • Students reached (number of learners who used the agent)
  • Handoffs (number of handoffs to staff)

You can use the “Activity” tab to review what the agent has been doing and to refine its settings.

Complete Course Creation with AI

The other major update is a feature that has AI generate everything at once, from the course structure to the content. The learning activities you choose, such as eBooks, assessments, and videos, are created together.

How It Works

Start from “Courses & Programs” → “Create course” → “Create course with AI.”

  1. Enter a prompt: Enter the topic, target audience, learning objectives, and so on. You can also attach materials, paste text, or reference an existing course.
  2. Review the course brief: The AI proposes the target audience, prerequisites, learning outcomes, topics covered, common misconceptions, and estimated duration.
  3. Design the learning experience: Set the interaction frequency (Light / Regular / High), the style of explanation, activities at the start, middle, and end, the certificate, and navigation (free / sequential).
  4. Voice, language, visuals: Set the tone, language and terminology rules, image frequency, and creative direction.
  5. Review the outline: Select and adjust sections and activities.
  6. Choose how to generate: See the table below.
  7. Course settings: Check the cover image, title, description, URL, and page layout, then create the course.
OptionWhat it does
Continue to planningReview and edit a detailed plan for each activity before generating
Generate course without planningGenerate content directly from the approved outline
Create outline onlyCreate only the structure, and add the content later

When generating, you can also choose “Prioritize speed” or “Prioritize consistency.”

Session Recovery

Planning a course with AI is easily interrupted partway through. With this update, you can resume plans saved with “Save plan” as well as interrupted sessions. Resume them from “Saved plans” and “In progress” on the “Create course” screen.

AI Source Library

This feature lets you upload reference materials once and reuse them across multiple courses. You can upload files, import URLs, or select existing resources.

  • School-wide: Materials shared across the whole school
  • Courses: Reference materials for individual courses

Each source can be turned on or off, and “Add instructions” lets you specify how that source should be used. How closely the AI follows the sources uses the same Strict / Balanced / Open options as the Learner AI Agent (the default is Balanced).

  • Strict for training based on internal policies or approved materials
  • Balanced for general educational content
  • Open for exploring new ideas

AI Assistants | eBooks, Assessments, and the Site Builder

Conversational AI assistants are now available in three production areas. They share two features: you can request multiple changes in a single instruction, and you can undo changes.

AI Assistant for eBooks

From “AI Assistant” at the top right of the screen, you can request section rewrites, tone adjustments, translation, and more. You can also translate a whole eBook, or selected sections, into another language. After a change, “Restore previous version” returns to the earlier state, and the conversation history is kept.

AI Assistant

For images, you can also generate and edit them with AI from the image widget, and the results are saved to the image library.

AI Assistant for Assessments

For exams, self-assessments, and forms, you can generate questions and improve existing ones. For example, you can give instructions like these:

  • Add questions on a specific topic
  • Simplify the wording of multiple questions
  • Adjust the difficulty
  • Update explanations and feedback in bulk

You can also change settings in natural language. The examples given include “Set the passing score to 70% and allow up to 2 attempts” and “Set a 20-minute time limit and randomize the questions.”

The help article stresses that a person must always review AI-generated content before publishing. For graded assessments in particular, check the correct answers, point values, and passing conditions.

AI Assistant for the Site Builder

Just describe the page you want to build or the changes you want, and you can make multiple content and design changes in a single conversation. The aim is to reduce the effort of editing element by element.

AI Audio Creation

AI Audio Creation

AI can now generate audio inside audio learning activities. There are three formats:

  • Narration: Explanation by a single speaker. Suited to lessons and summaries
  • Podcast: A conversation between a host and a guest
  • Dialogue: A conversation between multiple speakers. Suited to role-plays and scenarios

Enter a prompt and the AI creates a script. You can edit the script directly or revise it through AI chat, then choose a voice for each speaker and generate the audio. You can preview voices before choosing.

AI Video Creation

AI Video Creation

This feature lets you go from writing a script to generating a video inside LearnWorlds. You must connect your own Synthesia or HeyGen account. Note that LearnWorlds does not generate videos on its own.

There are three ways to start:

  • From within the AI course creation flow
  • From the settings of a video activity
  • From the video library, via “Add video” → “Create with AI”

The flow is: describe the video, review and edit the script, choose an avatar and voice, then generate the video.

You can also create custom avatars and voices.

  • Avatar: A clear, front-facing photo of one person (PNG or JPEG, up to 32 MB)
  • Voice: At least 30 seconds of noise-free audio of one person (up to 32 MB)

In both cases, the documentation states that you should use only material from people who have given their permission.

Pricing and Plans

LearnWorlds pricing, as of the time I checked third-party sources, is shown below. Always check the official pricing page for the latest amounts.

Pricing

From $29 /mo

All plans are reported to include a 30-day free trial.

One key point: the Learner AI Agent, the highlight of this update, is not available on Starter or Pro Trainer. To use learner-facing AI, you need the Learning Center plan or higher (from $299 per month). On the other hand, the AI features for course creation (course creation, eBooks, assessments, audio, video, Site Builder, and the source library) are available on all plans.

Pros and Considerations

Pros 5
  • The AI features for course creation are available on all plans, so even small operations can benefit

  • The flow of outline → detailed plan → generation lets you review and edit step by step

  • You can run the AI based on your own materials, and choose how closely it follows them with Strict / Balanced / Open

  • Operational settings for learner-facing AI are in place, such as how the AI behaves during exams and handoff to a person

  • eBook and assessment editing supports undoing changes ("Restore previous version") and keeps conversation history

Cons 4
  • The highlight, the Learner AI Agent, is not available on Starter or Pro Trainer, and Learning Center requires an activation request

  • AI video creation requires a separate Synthesia or HeyGen account

  • Quality in your target language (audio, answers, and interface display) can't be judged from the official materials, so testing is needed

  • AI-generated content is meant to be carefully reviewed by a person before publishing

Who Is This Update For?

The people most likely to benefit from this update are:

  • Those already running a school on LearnWorlds: You can revise eBooks and assessments in bulk with the AI assistants
  • Those who want to produce many courses: The source library and session recovery reduce rework in production
  • Those with a heavy learner-support workload: On Learning Center or higher, the AI Agent may be able to handle the first line of questions
  • Companies that want to use it for internal training: Strict mode and handoff settings make it easier to match your operating rules

Conversely, if you run on Starter or Pro Trainer and want learner-facing AI, keep in mind that you would need to upgrade your plan.

Summary

The key feature of this LearnWorlds AI update is that it links “AI that helps with production” and “AI that helps learners” into one continuous flow.

  • The AI features for course creation are available on all plans, and include complete course generation, AI audio and video, and various assistants
  • The learner-facing Learner AI Agent is limited to Learning Center and above, and comes with detailed operational settings
  • Quality and usability in your target language need to be confirmed by testing it yourself

If you are considering LearnWorlds, a practical first step is to use the 30-day free trial to check whether the output of the course creation AI suits your needs. If learner-facing AI is a priority, check the cost of the Learning Center plan and the activation request process in advance.
