Hi, I’m Hoda.

On October 22, 2026, 1Password announced “1Password for Agents.” When an AI agent needs to log in, 1Password enters the credentials directly into the login page instead of handing the password to the AI. One of the integration partners is Grok Bot from SpaceXSI.

Until now, when you tried to hand account tasks to an AI agent, you were often stuck with two choices: the agent stops at the login screen, or you paste your password into the chat. The 1Password integration is meant to avoid that choice.

This article covers what it can do, how it works, supported plans, the status of other agents, and cautions to know before you use it.

What You Can Do with the 1Password and Grok Bot Integration

In short, when Grok Bot is asked to log in during a task, 1Password enters the login credentials you have approved. Grok Bot never sees the password or the one-time code.

1Password’s partner page gives these examples of how to use it.

  • Log in to an airline or accommodation booking service and move a trip booking forward
  • Access Wix or Squarespace and move forward with building a personal site or securing a domain
  • Sign in to a learning management system and build a study plan around exam and assignment deadlines
  • Post to X or Instagram to keep up your online presence

In every case, the real work begins after you log in. You can think of 1Password as taking over just the login part.

How It Logs In Without Showing the Password

According to 1Password’s explanation, the flow is as follows.

:::steps

  1. The agent reaches a login screen

Grok Bot runs into a sign-in form partway through a task.

  1. It requests access from 1Password

The agent proves its identity to 1Password with a unique digital key, and asks to use the login credentials it needs.

  1. You review the request and approve it

You can see which login credentials are needed and why. You approve on your own device, choosing to allow or deny.

  1. 1Password enters the credentials directly into the login page

Once approved, 1Password fills in the form directly. The password is never passed to the agent.

  1. The agent continues the task

After logging in, Grok Bot carries on with the original task.

Support for Other AI Agents

1Password for Agents is not only for Grok Bot. The official blog describes integrations with multiple agents.

1Password explains that even if you switch between multiple agents, you can keep your login credentials in a single vault. It also notes that safeguards and how things work differ depending on the partner.

Cautions to Know Before You Use It

Pros 5
  • You don't have to show passwords or one-time codes to the AI

  • You can review and approve the use of login credentials each time

  • You can disconnect the integration at any time

  • No additional cost on eligible plans

  • You can manage login credentials in one place, your vault

Cons 4
  • Only Individual / Family are eligible, and .eu and .ca accounts are not supported

  • It is rolling out in stages, so it may not appear in your environment right away

  • What you can do after logging in depends on that account's permissions

  • You need to check Grok Bot's subscription and usage allowance separately

“Not Showing” and “How Much You Delegate” Are Separate Questions

1Password’s mechanism protects against handing passwords to the agent. On the other hand, the information the agent can see and the actions it can take after logging in depend on the connected account and the service’s permissions.

For example, if you log in with an administrator account, the agent may be able to edit and publish, not only view. It helps to decide these points before you approve.

  • Which account on which service you will let it use
  • Whether it is limited to viewing and organizing, or also includes editing, sending, purchasing, and deleting
  • Who checks the login state and the results after the work, and how

It’s safest to decline to approve, and handle it yourself, for things like messages whose recipients you can’t identify, purchases where you can’t confirm the amount, or deletions whose impact you can’t tell. If the site asks for additional identity verification or shows a CAPTCHA, take over yourself.

How to Start Using the 1Password Integration with Grok Bot

Screen names and button names may change depending on availability, so I only describe the common flow.

:::steps

  1. Check your 1Password subscription and account region

Check whether you are on Individual / Family with a 1password.com account. If you aren’t subscribed yet, you can start with the 14-day free trial.

  1. Check whether the integration is available in Grok Bot

Because it is rolling out in stages, check the guidance inside Grok Bot and the official availability information. If you don’t see it, that isn’t necessarily a malfunction.

  1. Start by asking for one small task

Keep it to viewing and organizing, such as “read the page I specify and summarize its contents in this conversation.”

  1. Review the login request and approve it

Before you allow it, check that the service name and the account to be used match your request.

  1. Check the results and the state after it finishes

Check whether it ended within the planned scope, and that no login session or recurring run remains.
